ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

Arusha National Park is known for the black-and-white colobus monkeys, Mount Meru, swamps, lakes, waterfalls and craters! A beautiful park with a wide diversity of landscapes and wildlife.

Welcome to Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park, located in northern Tanzania just south of the Kenyan border and near the city of Arusha, spans 53 square miles (137 square kilometers), making it one of the smaller national parks in both Tanzania and Africa. It is often considered a sister park to Kilimanjaro National Park to the east, attracting visitors who are particularly interested in mountain trekking.

Key Features
The park is home to Mount Meru, which stands at 14,968 feet (4,562 meters), making it the second tallest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth tallest in Africa. This dormant stratovolcano offers stunning visibility of both itself and Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. Within the park, unique areas include the Meru Crater, which contributes runoff to the Jekukumia River; the Ngurdoto Crater, featuring rich grassland; and the Momella Lakes, a bird haven with approximately 400 bird species.

Wildlife and Ecosystems
Notable wildlife includes the black-and-white colobus monkey, buffalo, elephants, and elusive leopards. While Arusha National Park is often overshadowed by nearby Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti parks, it provides diverse ecosystems and unique attractions for nature enthusiasts.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area spans from Serengeti National Park in the north, to the Great Rift Valley in the east. In total, the conservation area covers more than 8,000 km² (3,200 sq. miles). It consists of the Ngorongoro Crater, Ndutu, Olduvai Gorge, Empakaai, Olmoti Crater and Oldonyo Lengai Mountain. The mix of forests, valleys, savannah, craters, lakes and swamps is home for a wide range of animals.

ATTRACTIONS

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a vast an untouched protected area teeming with the densest wildlife populations on earth, breathtaking landscapes, mountains, world’s largest unbroken caldera, history of human evolution, and so much more. One has to visit to see and believe it.
